Your responsibilities
You will work as intern within the Balance Sheet Management (BSM) Department.
The main objective of this department is to meet the business needs of Athora Belgium in terms of actuarial reporting & Balance Sheet Management. This strong actuarial team contributes to company’s overall decision making and performance management process by providing timely, accurate and relevant information, analysis and capital management actions.
Among the topics where BSM department actively contributes: Solvency II, Capital Management, ALM, Modelling, New business profitability, IFRS 17, strategic balance sheet operations (M&A, reinsurance etc.).
Depending on the needs, you will mainly contribute to the Capital Management, Valuation and Solvency related topics:
- Supporting team through active participation in team meetings.
- Measuring, optimizing, and reporting on the various components of Life Technical Provisions, the Risk Capital models under Solvency II, IFRS 17 and BMA regulatory frameworks on a quarterly basis.
- Participating into the migration of the local actuarial platform, with the scope of understanding and analyzing modelling of cash flows, assessing their usefulness for above mentioned purposes.
- Communicating to business stakeholders and participating to the different internal (local and Group) committees.
- Collaborating with other members within BSM, Risk Management, Accounting, Group Actuarial, Group Investment and external consultants.
- Optimizing existing framework by improving the processes, controls, documentation.
Your profile
- You are pursuing undergraduate or graduate, preferably in economics, mathematics, or actuarial science.
- You have strong mathematical and statistical knowledge and skills with the ability to problem solve.
- You have strong modelling capabilities and programming skills (SAS, Python, R, VBA).
- You are a skilled user of MS Office.
- You are a native French or Dutch speaker with good command of the other national language and can work in English.
- You are able to work and learn quickly in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
- You have strong interpersonal skills, with ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.

- We only accept contracted internships, which means internship that are part of an education. No exceptions are allowed.
- The internship is non-remunerated.
- The internship should last for at least four months.
