In our Balance Sheet Management (BSM) department with the mission of meeting the business needs of Athora Belgium in terms of actuarial reporting and Balance Sheet Management, we are seeking a Capital Management Actuary to contribute to the Capital Management, Forecasting and Analysis of Change related topics (Solvency II, IFRS 17, EBS, Capital Management, ALM, Modelling, New business profitability, Actuarial platform migration, Strategic balance sheet operations (M&, reinsurance, …).

Your responsibilities
As Valuation Actuary, you will mainly contribute to Solvency and IFRS17 Valuation, supporting capital management, and other related topics:
- Measuring, optimising, and reporting on the various components of Life Technical Provisions, the Risk Capital models under Solvency II, IFRS 17 and BMA regulatory frameworks on a quarterly basis.
- Reconcile and analyse actuarial inputs and outputs, providing insights in quarterly analysis of change of Solvency II Own funds and SCR.
- Running projections for business planning, company’s Own Risk Solvency Assessment (ORSA) and regulator’s stress testing.
- Participating into the migration of the local actuarial platform, with the scope of understanding and analysing modelling of cash flows, assessing their usefulness for above mentioned purposes, and in particular reconciling figures across systems.
- Contributing on the calibration and documentation of the non-economic assumptions (expense, mortality, lapse, etc.) as well as implementing and documenting model changes.
- Contributing to the yearly integrated management plan process.
- Communicating to business stakeholders and contributing to the different internal (local and Group) committees.
- Participating in transversal Balance Sheet Management projects (M&A, internal and external reinsurance implementation/review, portfolio transfer process, actuarial software migration etc.).
- Optimizing existing framework by improving the processes, controls, documentation and support automation in SAS, Python, R, VBA for reporting purposes.
Your profile
- You have a university degree, ideally in either economics, mathematics or actuarial science.
- You have at least 2 years of experience in a similar role, with experience in (re)insurance type of regulatory reporting.
- You have an excellent knowledge of French or Dutch and a good command of the other national language and are comfortable working in English.
- You have a strong knowledge of Solvency II, life (re)insurance modelling, and are comfortable with coding in various actuarial software languages (e.g., Risk Agility, Prophet, Moses…).
- You have strong modelling capabilities, programming (SAS, Python, R, VBA) and using skills of MS Office.
- You are able to work and learn quickly and at a sustained rhythm in a dynamic environment.
- You have an analytical mind and are solutions and results oriented.
- You can communicate with all kinds of interlocutors and are able to present results to senior management effectively and clearly.
- You are independent and quick to take the initiative
- You dare to think outside the box and do not hesitate to make suggestions.
